The Rage of Dragons
by Evan Winter
that cliffhanger, though ...
this book left me confused, a headache, and literal speechlessness. I think this is the first time I've read a fantasy book this heavily contains action scenes. I thought the story telling was brilliant, and the world-building was complicated at first but after the first half of this book, I got the hang of it even if it's not all yet.
aside from the world building, this whole book is just in one way, fresh. And I thoroughly enjoy it. To be honest, the only downfall that I got from reading was that I could only connect emotionally to only few characters, as they sometimes just come and go as they like from the story and some didn't have their own background story of deep connection to the protagonist.
I guess now that I think about it, the so called protagonist of this story will change from time to time, or will there be multiple for every book? Because this book revolves mainly on Tau, and how he grows and we see all of his growth through harsh times, his feelings of vengeance and love to Zuri, and all that. But almost in the end, we see "povs" from characters like Kellan Okar (who I find very cool, though) and Queen Tsiora though it was only brief. I hope i can see them more as their own characters, and not only as an image of hate and vengeance that I felt reading most of this book, as it was from Tau's perspective.
