You Are Your Best Thing: Vulnerability, Shame Resilience, and the Black Experience
by Tarana Burke, Brené Brown
A powerful anthology on the vulnerabilities particularly experience by Black individuals. Each essay is easily relatable to the human experience, but helps demonstrate the unique experience of the Black community. I'm also incredibly grateful to have increased exposure to more Black authors/researchers/organizers that I had not previously read/known about. My favorite quotes (both by Tarana Burke):
"Our humanity, our individual and collective vulnerability, needs and deserves some breathing room."
"We often carry our trauma in similar ways, but the roads that led us to the trauma are all so different. We must pay attention to that road. That road is our humanity."
