I’d heard so many great things about this book, and I was eager to see for myself. I’m not a parent, but it felt like this book was teaching me how to be one. I was learning along with Jensen.

Jensen knew his responsibilities and never stopped showing up. He went out of his way and made sacrifices (such as going back to Bluebell for his son’s sake even though it sparked some bad memories), and always put Caleb and Briar first.

Briar was thoughtful to a fault, always having an inclination to help. I wasn’t surprised that Caleb took to her instantly, or that Jensen fell for her in no time.

I loved Caleb right away. He was the sweetest little boy, maybe even my favorite kid from any single dad romance ever. I never stopped cheering him on.

The found family trope in small town, cowboy settings is almost in a league of its own. In this book in particular, I can only remember one character I didn’t like. Everyone else was so kind and generous, pitching in and supporting each other.

It started off strong before getting more relaxed in the middle, but there was no shortage of feel-good, sometimes emotional moments that never failed to make me smile. I loved the bonds Briar, Jensen, and Caleb had with each other, and I’ll definitely check out the rest of the series when they’re out.
