The Volunteer: The True Story of the Resistance Hero who Infiltrated Auschwitz by Jack Fairweather

dark inspiring reflective tense slow-paced

5.0

A painstakingly put together book celebrating an unsung hero. Bleak and frustrating at times but often inspiring to see how the resistance would band together to support each other even though they risked certain death if discovered. Bought this book at Auschwitz after a harrowing day spent learning about it, and this provided a far richer insight into life there than any tour guide could possibly provide with their limited time. An incredibly informative and impactful read.
