The Ivies by Alexa Donne

To sum up the way I feel about this book, I was expecting so much more going into it but the book just didn't deliver. I was expecting something that would have me hooked, wanting to figure out who the murderer was with the stakes up high but that wasn't the case at all and whilst it was terrible, it wasn't good. The fact that it was more academically focused made me think that it was going to be much more interesting than it actually ended up being.

I guessed who it was pretty early on since it was pretty obvious in my opinion. It felt like the author was trying everything to get the reader to believe that the murderer wasn't who it ended up being so it made it quite easy to guess. Although there are still things that are unclear in my head and things that just don't match up.

Also the motive was extremely absurd. I probably would have liked it more if it had been a different motive because I genuinely laughed out loud as soon as it was revealed, it was quite pathetic honestly and didn't feel at all realistic. Who on earth would kill someone for that reason in real life?

All in all, this isn't the worst book out there and to pass the time, sure, it wasn't too bad. It nearly got three stars but I just felt like I didn't enjoy it enough. There are other mystery books similar to this one that I would much rather recommend.
