Sometimes I forget how I'm a complete sucker for Young Adult Romances!! 😍 Because man, oh man, did I devour this book. There is something so unspeakably refreshing about a good teenage love story. The ridiculous drama and silly life problems like gossip and boy feuds that just makes it all so nostalgic lol.
I LOVED the concept of this book. Taking an upperclass teenage girl from New York City and dropping her in the middle of Colorado where her life will already be completely different is one thing, but ending up with a family who has eleven - yeah you heard me!! ELEVEN boys - well... let the drama commence!
Gaaaaah I loved Ali's writing, simple and so easy to read. She has a way of taking you back to your high school days and I enjoyed that so much. I absolutely loved the character development for each of these characters, Jackie was amazing! I loved how, even though life had dealt her an extremely hard hand, she took it with grace, she's a strong character but absolutely humble and that's way different to what I would expect from a girl who has lived a privileged life. The boys were great, I mainly loved Nathan and Danny as side characters, I think the bonds that she developed with them were so pure and strong! Alex is nothing like his character in the actual show, I absolutely loved him throughout, he's smart and relatable and just good.
But then of course, there's Cole. The popular Walter, the one who gets any and every girl he sets his eyes on, the broken one and the one Jackie knows she most definitely MUST NOT have feelings for. Because he can only ever be trouble. And I, at my eight-and-twenty years, am very much in love with a teenage bad boy named Cole Walter👀 don't ask questions.
Thank you @penguinbookssouthafrica for this wonderful book and readalong!
