although the writing was a bit iffy (given the fact that this is asagiri's first bsd light novel, as well as the translation being a bit awkward), I had a great time reading this! I love kunikida and dazai's relationship and how much more depth this novel gave to their dynamic. and, somehow, reading this made me love and appreciate kunikida as a character more than I already did, especially with the discussions of ideals and the way so many elements of the mystery challenged his own ideals. studio bones' adaptation of this novel was atrocious and I will never shut up about it. my beef with that studio knows no bounds.
