The characters and relationships are deep and nuanced and interesting. The blending of various mythologies and stories is well crafted and engaging. There are amazing descriptions and turns of phrase and concepts that are the kind of thing you want to read over again. It serves as a very good prime or introduction to mayte, and indigenous culture and concerns without feeling preachy. An extremely enjoyable and exciting read. Although the conclusion is not a conclusion, and it obviously is waiting for a sequel.
