not my fave clarice but had me ugly crying by the end. which is typical for her. the lispector experience: first 90% is wading through a jungle of barely coherent abstract mysticism and then in the last 10% it all suddenly comes together in an outpouring of the most profound, clear-eyed, exultant joy. the closest a book can come to a psychedelic experience. bless
