Embers: One Ojibway's Meditations by Richard Wagamese

4.0

A little too "deep". But not nonsense deep - maybe I ought to read it 10 years later. But I did like it. Some notes:
***
"I am not my thoughts, I am my silence. I am not the words in my book, I am the punctuation and space."
***
"When you find a way to sit in silence with somebody, You found how to truly communicate. "
***
"When each morning in silence You connect with the REAL You, then throughout the day people will get the real you, not somebody altered (“old thought patterns” and outside influence)."
***
With all Your limiting thoughts, add to the end "... Without the Creator". I can not finish this project successfully... Without the Creator (etc). WITH the "Creator", we can do everything. And when we do, we should give thanks to the Creator - it wasn't solely us.
***
You can not grow your courage timidly - You have to run through the fire, hands waving, heart pumping.
***
I came here to experience my body, so I am not my body. I came here to experience my mind, so I am not my mind. I came here to experience my thoughts, so I am not my thoughts.
***
We don't bounce "back" from mistakes. We bounce higher, beyond.
***
Truth and courage are the most important things. Keep your truth in front of you, and have the courage to move towards it.
***
We are given what we send out. When we send out thanks, we get more to be thankful of. When we send out wanting, we get more wanting.
***
Do you miss something or someone “really bad”? Try missing them “really well” :)
***
As a writer - don't just write what You know. Write what you Want to know.
