angrbotha 's review for:
Wizard and Glass
by Stephen King
For the first three books I've been wanting some motivation for Roland, something to give the quest some purpose. So I was looking forward to learning some of his backstory. The last thing I expected it to be was boring. The main story of Roland's flashback was cliched, predictable and about 150 pages longer than it needed to be. There isn't much suspense in putting people in life-or-death situations when you already know the outcome. And the constant blatant foreshadowing was needless and annoying. I was glad to get back to the main timeline, though the whole Oz thing felt tacked-on, like he couldn't figure out how else to get them out of Bizarro-Kansas, which seems to have existed solely for the purpose of getting them a new wheelchair.
