A very poignant take on the passage of time and the death of a human through the lens of an old man and a 15 year old boy. Murakami creates one of the strangest worlds I’ve read, from talking cats to colonel sanders the pimp, there wasn’t a boring moment. As always, murakamis portrayal of women is not good, and there are a few scenes that threw me for a loop.
Graphic: Rape, Incest, Animal death, Blood, and Adult/minor relationship
Minor: Transphobia and Sexism
