This book was so unexpected yet so good. Unexpected because of its’ topics, it’s certainly not a lighthearted read. In a weird way a lot is happening but not much is happening at the same time. I loved seeing the story being told from the perspective of a child and their interpretation of the world, keep that in mind if you want to pick this one up! I will say, I would have loved to see more from Petrona's perspective since we were given glimpses of her point of view and her life was so difficult in comparison.

Likes: Colombian representation, incorporation of historic events, realistic depiction of controversial topics, portrayal of different traumas, dual POV

Dislikes: slow paced moments throughout
