First of all, lemme just say that the cover is so well done!! So gorgeous!

The story was pretty full of cliches. I found them enjoyable most likely because of the events that they created. This is about a girl (apprentice librarian) who is discovering who she really is and how she fits into the world. I think it was fairly well paced, maybe a little slow.

The characters were cool. They each had a lot of character development which I totally appreciated.
-Vhalla is your typical female YA fantasy character. At first I couldn't stand her, but as the story progressed, I learned that she's kinda awesome.
-Prince Aldrik is your typical bad boy/misunderstood soul. He's described by many characters in the book to have a 'silver tongue' which I could see sometimes.
-the rest, although cool, didn't really show up and play a HUGE part like these two did.

The writing was decent. It did its job. It isn't my favorite but it flowed (mostly) so it was good. There were spots where I honestly was so confused. Maybe four spots. They just didn't provide enough information for me to realize what was going on.

The cliffhanger at the end is brutal. Cannot wait until book 2!
