Still Lives by Maria Hummel

3.0

Maggie is an editor at an art museum that is having a show for her ex boyfriend's new girlfriend, Kim Lord. Kim's show is all about murdered women, so you can see where this is going. Kim never materializes for the show and is officially missing shortly after. Does she leave clues in her paintings? Maybe. Maggie strikes me as an awkward weirdo from a small town, so since she doesn't really know herself it's hard to get a bead on whether the reader can trust her or not. I had to double check that she had an alibi for when
SpoilerKim died. (Is this a spoiler? I mean it can't be a murder mystery without the murder, but I'm trying not to be an asshole here.)
Well it turns out Maggie used to be a reporter so she sets about trying to solve the disappearance. The whole time I was thinking she would be arrested because, being the ex, she had a great motive to make Kim disappear and SHE WAS ACTING LIKE A SUSPICIOUS WEIRDO!

This was a pretty standard mystery. I would say it was devoid of twists. It was an easy quick read though.
