While I was reading it I had exactly one status update at 56% and reading it back now, it’s a great review too. So I’m gonna share it plus some additional words:
„Or you can contact me again, I guess. I usually try to avoid aftercare as much as possible, as it kind of impacts on the experience for me!“
Fuck aaaaaall the way of, Leo. Not only didn't you have consent for penetration, you also didn't talk through with her what she has to expect etc. etc. and now THIS ffs? What in the fifty shades is happening here
This is not a book considered smut, where I'd be like „Ok, not cool but yk, it's smut, some people are (consensually) into exactly this behavior and what he did and how he did it. But this isn't smut, it's a book about a woman grieving and developing an unhealthy (self- destructive) coping mechanism through sex and I GET that, I really, TRULY do. I just hope this book adresses the highly problematic points from the last chapter in some way in the second half of the book. Whew.
The book didn’t address anything, the fmc adapted this highly- high👏🏻ly👏🏻- problematic behavior when it comes to domming in a BDSM dynamic and tbh after 3 months now this is the only thing of this book that really stuck with me.
I initially gave it 3 stars and I vaguely remember that I liked the description of grief and how I can relate to almost everything including the self- destruction yadda yadda but I really dislike how it pictured the bdsm scene and normalized sexual abuse and I’ll re-rate it 2 stars bc this shit shouldn’t be normalized or be accepted wether IRL or in a book. Don’t even let me get started about the whole reproducing stigma aspect…
It’s a toss and if you have anything else on your tbr, go read that first. And after that look for something else to read entirely.
