onyxwolf 's review for:
Once Dead, Twice Shy
by Kim Harrison
I have the ARC of this one and it's not bad, but I've read The Hollows series by Kim Harrison so I feel like it could have been better based on those books. That's probably a little bias.
Also the reason why there are dark and light reapers was a little fuzzy until right near the end (unless I missed something completely). I felt like we didn't know why the dark reapers were attacking people, I thought it was because they fed off of them somehow.
The characters were flat, sadly. Since this is a series, I have to guess they may have filled out a bit, but for this story there wasn't much going on with them other than what they said in each scene.
But on the other side, no insta-love, and no aggressive attraction, which both plague young adult books.
Of course, all of this might be because it's an ARC. Maybe some additional edited happened. Still, it's a cute book. I would recommend it for a light read.

Just little things really. Like if I hear about the purple tips on her hair again I might scream, just a little. Like, ok, we get it, she has colored hair. Which in 2009 I guess was a bigger deal than it is now. Also the reason why there are dark and light reapers was a little fuzzy until right near the end (unless I missed something completely).
