I've never seen Fried Green Tomatoes and I probably never will. This story was fine but I wish it was only the historical storyline and not the back and forth with "current" time (yes, I know I'm 40 years too late for it to be current, but you know what I mean). The current timeline didn't add anything to the story, and in fact, was annoying as hell. When the historical part didn't even go in order, jumping around back into the 80s also was just a nuisance.  Love Ruth and Idgie's relationship and alllllll of the side characters from Whistle Stop were delightful. But yeah, let's just keep it simple.
