The moment I finished Fallen Too Far I knew I needed more of these characters and their story. Although I was spoiled on two major plot points, I desperately wanted to know what happened with these characters that I'd become so attached too.
Back in Alabama, Blaire wants to put Rush behind her and forget about the way he made her feel and the hurt he caused her. But leaving Rush back in Rosemary Beach was going to be hard, especially when a piece of him had joined her in Alabama. When Bethy arrives asking her to move in with her in a new condo, Blaire is initially hesitant about going back to Rosemary, but she's got a future to think about and she could use her old job back. Seeing Rush and his family would be tough, but she needs to save up for a fresh start. Rush, on the other hand, has become a hollow shell of the man he once was. The love of his life is gone and he vows never to move on - his heart and soul are with Blaire, even if she doesn't want them. But with both Blaire and Rush in the same town again, they begin to be drawn back to one another. Blaire is terrified of how Rush will act when she tells him her big news. But she's surprised at his reaction, believing he may just be the guy for her, despite the baggage.
If you follow me on Twitter, you are probably sick and tired of all the tweets regarding this series. I'm sorry, but I just can't get enough! Once I started this book, I could not put it down. I don't know what it is, but Abbi's writing is so additive, and before I knew it, I was halfway through the book and it was 1am.
My favourite thing about this book was the alternating perspectives between Blaire and Rush. With the first book only following Blaire, it was nice to be in Rush's head and see the story through his eyes. It was nice to see how Rush continues to grow throughout the story, not just in Blaire's mind but his own as well. You could finally see how his inner conflicts were affecting him, and how he desperately wanted things in his life to be normal and easy, rather than fucked up with family drama.
Once again, this book was a rollercoaster of emotions. You're happy, sad, heartbroken and laughing as you follow the journey of these characters and the barriers they must overcome to be together. One aspect that annoyed me in this book (and even more so in the next) was Nan. Yes, she's in the story to serve as the bitch trying to stop Blaire and Rush being together, but she's just so spoiled and immature that it's hard to feel sorry for her. She's in the story for the drama, but I would have loved to have her not in the book as much.
I've said it before and I'll say it again. I am obsessed with these books and these characters. Abbi just brings you into their world. It's addictive. It's so addictive and I'm that obsessed that I actually dived straight into Forever Too Far at about 2:30am because I couldn't get enough of the story. I don't know what it is that makes me love this story and these characters so much, but it's a story that I enjoyed escaping into.
This was a fantastic sequel that had everything I wanted and more. I highly recommend that contemporary fans pick up these books and dive into the world of Rosemary Beach and the drama that unfolds with these characters. The more I read Abbi's books, the more I love her work, and I am now determined to read everything she has written.
