This was one of those books where you can tell why another person might not like it or might think it was mediocre, but it spoke to you in a way those people don't understand. This novel covered a lot of hard topics and questions and conversations about love, companionship, marriage, family, etc.

The protagonist, Lauren, has been with her husband, Ryan, since college and they've been together for 11 years. They discover at this point that they can't stand each other anymore and they decide to take a yearlong no-contact break from one another.

I think my main takeaway from this book was that Lauren eventually figured out that she COULD do everything she needed to do on her own, but she would much rather have Ryan by her side while she's doing it.
