The Potion Diaries: Royal Tour by Amy Alward

3.0

Sam is getting ready to go on the royal tour with Princess Evelyn and Zain...for a long time. Like nothing really happens for a good chunk of the book, and if you haven't read book one, a lot of it is kind of hazy about what is going on and why we should be worried about the villain (I've already forgotten her name) and but not Sam, the alchemist's assistant, and her family who make and sell potions without long extensive testing to actually see how they work on humans, despite a complete lack of training on anatomy and biology in general. I mean, really who's the bad guy here?

Because I didn't quite understand what was going on, I did focus my attention too much on the minutia of this world and really couldn't get into the book. It did seem interesting, but not enough to finish the book or pick up book one. If you liked book one, you'll probably like book two, but I wouldn't recommend it as a stand alone.
