The Counselors
by Jessica Goodman
Lots of teenage angst and a mystery set in a summer camp in Vermont. Imogene, Ava, and Goldie have been going to Alpine Lake Camp since they were 8. Imogene and Ava are wealthy New Yorkers and Goldie is a local whose parents work at the camp. They become best friends and tell each other everything. Well, almost everything. Now they are back as counselors. A young man from town drowns in the lake. It is ruled and accident, but everyone has their doubts, and Goldie makes it her mission to find out the truth. This was a well written novel with a well-developed plot and believable characters. The story shifts back and forth from the past to the present told by Goldie which aids in the plot development without confusion. I found it to be an enjoyable young adult read.
