tessaf 's review for:
Agatha Raisin and the Quiche of Death
by M.C. Beaton
It started out promisingly and then I guess it just didn't work for me. I wonder if maybe this is one of those series where you're better off not starting with the first one. I did not like Agatha, but I did not expect to. What bothered me is that she wasn't funny as an unlikable person, which the initial introduction to her character had led me to believe was going to be the case. She was a level of incompetent that I think was too much even for an amateur sleuth. There were also just little things that preference-wise I would say are just markers of a book written in the 90s so that is kind of on me really. The amount of weight talk bothered me.
