Chasing River by K.A. Tucker

4.0

I have to say, even though I have had other K.A Tucker books on my kindle forever, Chasing River is the first book of hers that I have read.

Though this is the 3rd book in the Burying Water series, it can be read as a stand alone - though I will be going back and reading the earlier books when I get the time.

Chasing River starts with a bang - and not the good kind!

Amber is travelling the world, ticking things off her travel bucket list as she goes. Getting blown up is not on that list though.

This incident brings her and River together, and changes their lives forever.

Amber is one of those people that needs to konw. She needs to know what happened. She needs to know who the mystery man who saved her is.

I loved how she was like a dog with a bone. She hunted River down, but then it was a case of Chasing River, and River chasing Amber.

River's life is steeped in family history - not all of it good, not all of it legal. I loved his family - for the most part. My heart hurt as we learn more of their story, as things happen that affect more than the person involved, dragging everyone into their drama.

The part I really liked about Chasing River - besides Amber and River - was the burgeouning friendship between Amber and Ivy. Ivy is the dark to Ivy's light, and they complement each other and I feel that theirs could be a friendship for life.

The pacing of Chasing River was just right - I felt that the story flowed well, and when I got to the end I felt that it was definitely things should have been, but along the way there were a few times where I was like "woah, I wasn't expecting that to happen", which I really liked.

I am really looking forward to Ivy's story, and going back to read books 1 and 2, to see how our characters got where they are today.
