This book contained many tropes - the rebellious, dark detective with a tortured soul (who is also very lazy) accompanied by a much smarter, brown-skinned immigrant "partner" (?) who might be the janitor, not really a cop but is treated with distain because he is "other". Sexism abounds in this book - every woman is described and judged primarily by her "assets". It is heavily implied that the victim is at fault because of her attractiveness. The (married) police psychologist rejects the detective's clumsy advances (inappropriate for multiple reasons) and then is described with scorn afterward.  Pay attention to the content warnings. The unnecessarily lengthy descriptions of the victim's multi-year torture are disturbing. Reviews compare this to Sieg Larsson or Jo Nesbo - definitively not.
