Upon first starting this book, I wasn’t too crazy about the background “filler” stories about his prior adventures. But the more I read the more I realized that it was essential to understanding Aron. Being an avid hiker and having hiked all the 14ers myself, I couldn’t help but think how irresponsible this guy was. But I do think that was part of the point. I was glued to the chapters that followed Aron in his entrapment. Having seen the movie and heard the story this book made me more aware of the miraculous circumstances leading to his rescue. The timing had to be perfect, and that was a part of the book that I really enjoyed. Overall, an inspiring story and well worth a read.
