Les Joies d'en bas
by Nina Brochmann, Ellen Støkken Dahl
At first i enjoyed this book, it was quirky and funny and lightheaded. then, we reached the “contraception” part and it got me mad. i had hopes that this book would be different from the others since it was written by two med students (not old doctors). yet, they still act like contraceptive pills are safe when we don’t fully understand how they work and how they affect the women taking them. i was hoping they would address that point but instead they took a patronizing stance and kept recommending the pills. from that point on, it was just the authors giving their personal opinions while decorating it under “but we are feminist, you do what you want”.
