A Discovery of Witches by Deborah Harkness
5.0
Based on all the reviews (mine included) A Discovery of Witches is either a book you love OR a book you can't stand. I enjoyed the book immensely. While some compare it to a more mature Twilight with some detective work I do think that the premise is more than interesting. Diana Bishop is a witch who has spent the majority of her life trying not to draw attention to her magical status. She finds a very important document and meets an extremely intelligent vampire. I can tell you I was happy to have a "magical" story take place within a University. The conversations were appropriate and while there is romance involved I did think that it was successful without being overwhelming and cheesy. The book is long but I never felt like it passed slowly or was boring.
