I've been reading Jodi Picoult for years and some of her books - My Sister's Keeper and Nineteen Minutes - are among my all time favourites. Back when I was 15 I had committed to read every single Jodi Picoult book published, and I am still committed to it. It's just that the last several books from her have unfailingly let me down :((
The characters, the plot, the background, none of it felt fleshed out in Lone Wolf. I didn't connect to a single character and I loathed reading another Luke chapter about wolves. Joe, the stepfather and lawyer, was the only character that had some heart to him, none of the others had any dimensions to them. The family dynamics were messy, but that was that, they weren't explored to a proper depth like they are in some of her best work. The big twists felt underwhelming and/or unbelievable.Clara's guilt because of her last words to Luke being "I hate you" which was why she didn't want to feel guilty for switching off life support was still somewhat palatable. But Edward running away to Japan and not returning for 6 YEARS just because he couldn't bear the thought of his father cheating was the most unrealistic twist ever😠What was Ms Picoult thinking?!
So yeah, just a disappointing read :/
So long till the next Picoult book I pick up
