The Unhoneymooners
by Christina Lauren
I finally have a break to read so I've been on a binge reading books that I've been wanting to read for a while. Before reading this book I finished the Renegades series by Merissa Meyer so I just wanted to read a fun stand-alone. Even though we're having a snowstorm warning where I live, it was good to escape into the warm setting of this book.
The actual book and story itself were good with some weak spots. I can understand how Olive thinks about what happens around her but there were times when I was just as confused as Ethan. I like the banter between the two main characters but the conflicts felt like they were avoidable or could have been dealt with differently. Without conflict, a book is boring but it felt like one moment Olive and Ethan couldn't get enough of each other and then the next moment they are back to square one.
The things I liked about the book were the cliches and again the enemies-to-lovers trope which is what drew me to the book in the first place. I loved the scenery of the snuba scene and how the author describes their surroundings. I am still fairly new to reading compared to most so I have yet to be bogged down by tropes and things that are repeated a lot in romances so I enjoyed reading the book but I don't think I will read it again.
