Death in the Clouds by Agatha Christie

3.0

If you’re not white, spare yourself the emotional burden and don’t read this one.

I have such conflicting thoughts. I *loved* the pace and setting, but unfortunately, a surprise, unnecessary racism was tucked quietly at the end of a chapter, spoiling the rest of the book for me since, in my 2020 world, that would easily identify any villains. I spend the remaining pages wondering about the line: 1) did I read it correctly? and 2) would this short conversation amongst 2 racists in the 1930s be important to the plot for the author or the readers of the day?
