I love found footage, and I did enjoy chunks of this book. Got a little too cosmic horror when I was wanting more haunted house. I think going too big took away from some of the time we could've gone deeper into the characters or a mystery in the house itself- I guess I happen to agree with Fade To Black's producers lol.

The journal entries were not my favorite and made it feel repetitive hearing everyone's pov of the moment we just read a transcript of. I truly think they are the culprit of a lot of things I didn't like about the book. Loved the transcripts of the videos and the texts though!

ACAB to Kevin. Just... if you read his first journal entry and can't stop thinking acab just know you're right and it's the correct judgement to have about him lol.

And no matter how hard they try they can never make me a hate a woman in stem.
What was Claire meant to do at the end there other than just like join the void? lol

I can definitely feel the influence of House of Leaves and As Above So Below. Though I have my criticisms, I found it interesting for the most part. I just didn't love the ending, and the mystery's ending was meh. However, the hauntings starting with that hippie song was iconic I can't lie.

But I desperately want more found footage books. If you'd like a recommendation of a book that is in a similar style try Katie Alice Marshall's Rules For Vanishing. It's really good!
