Forever My Girl
by Heidi McLaughlin
Release Date: December 27, 2012
Genre: Second Chance Romance
Aww. I really adored this book. It gave me all those cheesy feelings and put a huge smile on my face! I can see why this is a favorite of many readers and I can see why they made it into a movie (although from the movie trailer it looks like a lot of things were changed). It's an all around feel good romance with a sweet set of characters and a fantastically written plot.
Forever My Girl is the first book in the Beaumont series. From what I can gather, these books should be read in order. However, this one can stand completely on it's own if you don't want to read an entire series. It sas it has it's HEA and all that good stuff that us romance lovers crave. If you want to continue the series you will be getting other couples romances from the secondary characters (who I also fell in love with). So YAY! I can't wait to read the rest of their stories.
ABOUT THE BOOK
I know many have already read this one but for those who haven't, I'll give you the scoop on what's going on within the story.
Liam left his high school sweetheart, Josie for a world of glamorous and stardom. But 10 years later he is forced to confront those who he had hurt when he returns home for a funeral of one of his oldest friends. He doesn't intend to stay in Beaumont, but sometimes the heart has other ideas...
Josie, a single mom, is trying to do best for her child, Noah. She's in a serious relationship with a great man, and life couldn't be any better. But when her best friends husband dies unexpectedly, Josie's whole world is thrown for a loop. Especially when her high school love comes back to town.
Thrust back into a world that both had long forgotten, these two are going to have to make amends because they have one thing in common... A son.
OVERALL THOUGHTS OF THE BOOK
I LOVED this book. It's emotional, charming, sweet, and heartwarming. It has one of my favorite tropes (a second chance love story) and the author does a wonderful job at making it feel both real and exciting.
The reason I gave this book 4/5 stars is because I desperately wanted more. I feel like it should have been a little bit harder for the characters to get back together, especially considering Josie was dating someone for over 6 years prior to Liam's return, and because of all the heartbreak he had caused her 10 years ago. Had it had a little more angst and the characters fought harder it would have seemed more realistic. No matter what though, it's still a fantastic novel and I am glad I picked it up today and read it in one sitting. It's a beautiful story.
