Black Swan Green by David Mitchell
5.0

An underrated David Mitchell novel. I don't mean it in a pejorative way when I say Mitchell's strength is in doing pastiches. That's probably why he does those big genre-hopping novels, to keep from getting bored. But I really liked this one, he sticks with it and he knows the school days genre and its expectations. Actually it might be second to Thousand Autumns in my ranking of his books, if I'm being honest.
