Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli
5.0

Do you know there is a difference between understanding between gender and sex?
Sex deals with biological differences between humans, while gender refers to the socially constructed roles, behavior, functions, and identities of girls, boys, men, and women. Gender diverse the people.
Gender is an ongoing discursive practice, which is currently structured around the concept of heterosexuality as the norm of human relationships. compulsory, heterosexuality is installed in gender through the production of taboos against homosexuality. The condition is even getting=g worse as LGBTQ are stigmatized and stereotyped in a bad way, leading to prejudice and homophobia towards them.
Simon vs The homo sapiens Agenda is a perfect read to understand the emotional twirls of a teenage boy in a journey of self-acceptance.
About the book:
This is the story of 17 years old teen Simon Spier. He has everything a teen needs a group of good friends, a happy family, and a good score in studies. The only issue is that he holds a secret and that secret makes his life stressful when the boy who blackmailed and bullied him shares his secret only with one person, who he emailed throughout the read. the mystery of that person makes this book entertaining.
My Musings:
The message conveyed by the author of being afraid of change and being judged is so relatable. Talking about the character “Simon” is my favorite one. He is a witty and light-hearted boy, with whom any teenager can easily relate. the journey of Simon as an individual to open up and accepting himself is narrated beautifully. The other characters Leh, Abby, Nick are all well crafted. I like the normal and happy family of Simon.
Overall, this is a fun and cute read with a deep and strong message.
