Untamed by Glennon Doyle

Audiobook narrated by the author.

The longer I listened the more I wanted the book to just be over. Glennon touched on a lot of important issues and made a lot of great points in regards to sexuality, motherhood, marriage, religion, feminism, parenting, politics, the current states of our world, and so many other things. More often than not though, she came off very preachy in many instances. Her voice (especially when she did high pitched voices for kids or mocking) made it even harder to listen to. I understand that this isn’t an issue for someone who read rather than listened, but it was a really big thing to try and overlook. She made every touch point at least somewhat relatable, even if it was something I myself haven’t experienced myself which I applaud, but I just couldn’t get past a lot of the ways she spoke so highly and almost “bragging” about herself for some of the most simple and basic things. I’m not a mother, I haven’t been married, I have not struggled with addiction, I was not raised in a small religious town, but she spoke about these issues in a way that was thought provoking. I wish I could’ve gotten past a lot of my dislikes with this book, but I just couldn’t. And although it was so thought provoking and informational I don’t think I could bring myself to pick it up again.
