Vi Reyes is kinda giving me Kat Stratford vibes. Obviously, she doesn't drive into an as*holes car with the word "Oops", but I love the female rage she portrays. It's wonderful to see a woman not people please her way through life.
This book got me out of a 6 month reading slump, and I was so freaking happy that I found it! It pulled me into the story right away, which was exactly the feeling I missed.
The storyline is amazing and kinda unexpected. I love that it subverts the typical expectations for this genre.
The romance is slow burn and starts pretty late in the book. So it's not a typical rom-com. Nevertheless I love the developing relationships in the book between the characters, not just the FMC and MMC.
I wish we'd gotten to see Vi and Jack happy together for a little bit longer. At the same time, I know we didn't miss much, as we've gotten to know both characters very well individually.
I was just hoping for some kind of epilogue of the characters being together further down the road to see how their relationship develops, maybe find out what university Vi is planning to attend, see if they have longer term potential.
Either way, I absolutely love this book and it's characters. It gave me the early 2000s Shakespeare retelling vibes I was hoping for and so much more.
