The X Ingredient
by Roslyn Sinclair
3.5 ⭐
This was an entertaining read! Honestly, I haven’t had much luck with Roslyn’s books in the past, so color me surprised — I actually really enjoyed this one. I especially appreciated how the story handled coming out later in life. It was so sweet to watch Diana gradually accept herself, which felt especially meaningful given her religious background. That journey was tender and admirable.
On the other hand, Laurie was an interesting character, but I felt like she was a bit of wasted potential. There just wasn’t much character development for her, which left me wanting more.
So, why isn’t my rating higher? Mainly because of the relationship between the two leads. Their connection seemed to be driven more by physical attraction than emotional depth. While I did like how they slowly began to trust one another — and how their lovemaking grew more intimate as a result — I really wish we’d seen more shared moments outside the bedroom. It felt like they didn’t truly get to know each other on a deeper level, and that emotional intimacy was something I missed.
Still, it was a solid and enjoyable read — definitely worth checking out!
