Ever since this book came up in my Goodreads newsletter, on the monthly new releases list, I couldn't wait to finally get my hands on it. The cover, the title, the summary - all suggested that this one is going to be The Book of my summer. It seemed to be a mixture of excitement, good humor, and action that keeps you on the edge of your seat.

Well... It wasn't.

This book was the most frustrating story I've read in a veeeeeery loooooong time.

There were no humor to it, there barely were exciting scenes; instead it was just incredibly sexist - and probably I'm sensitive due to what's happening in the world right now, but I felt it had a racist edge on it as well. Not to mention that the plot was a pointless mess.

Let's face it: I was naive. I don't know what did I expect, considering the fact that this story takes place in the South; but I definitely wasn't prepared for this level of white male supremacy. It was the the nineties, not the fifties, ffs.

I had so high hopes... I feel extremely disappointed right now.
