The Green Brain by Frank Herbert
3.0
adventurous mysterious fast-paced
Plot or Character Driven: Character
Strong character development: Complicated
Loveable characters: No
Diverse cast of characters: No
Flaws of characters a main focus: Yes

Honestly, at multiple points I almost gave up. The imagery is wonderful, but the human characters are so absolutely terrible that it was difficult. Lots of sexism and chauvinist rhetoric.

When I started to shift the perspective to rooting *against* the humans (the idiots that would come about from trying to declare war on nature?) the book became more enjoyable. The ending as well makes the whole thing worth going through.

Not the first Frank Herbert book I'd recommend, more of a deep cut.
