bibliotequeish 's review for:
Great Expectations
by Charles Dickens
I feel like this is a book I should have loved. I don't know, maybe I don't like Dickens.
I really enjoyed the story, and for all intents and purpose I should have Loved this book.
But I think its the writing style that I don't like.
Do I not like Dickens?
I have wondered if my issue is with Dickens on a few different occasions. For example I recently wrote a review for [b:A Christmas Carol|5326|A Christmas Carol|Charles Dickens|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1406512317l/5326._SY75_.jpg|3097440] I had rated it 2 stars and could not remember why. I really liked the story.
I thought it must be a mistake so I started reading it again and then it all came back. The writing was so dry.
And now writing a review for Great Expectations. I am thinking back to the story and I loved the story.
Pip, Miss Havisham, I remember it all with such fondness... it was the actual writing that made this a 3 star book for me.
This is an unfortunate realization.
