Maybe the author's horror is better. This was pretty horrible. Actually seems to take place in the mid 1980's in an idyllic style town where a cookie maker can have a flourishing business, be a bad ass snooper and even take on physical challenges like she does it all the time. A cookie maker. Meanwhile the cop who wants to be detective is asking her for detection advice, giving her information about the investigation and complimenting her when she puts herself in danger and messes with evidence. NOPE. Can't. Just can't. This did NOT age well.
