I enjoyed this one a little more than the first one. I was annoyed a little at the twist at the end and I was hoping for a little more development. I was pleased to see that in the sequel, the characters grew nicely, and the conclusion was a satisfying end to their stories.
I like that all of the characters I enjoyed from the first book are back but on different teams. That added some interesting stakes and interest to how the characters were interacting with each other. I enjoyed the heists more in this book than I did in the first one. They’re interesting and different, and I enjoyed the stakes that they had to them.
That said, this book certainly had its flaws. Ross kept making stupid decisions that didn’t seem to have much reason other than the plot needed to carry forward so she needed to be an idiot. I know she’s dealing with how to handle betrayal, but I was often annoyed at how she treated her friends. The chemistry between Ross and Devroe also felt a little bit off sometimes. I’m not completely sure how she got past the betrayal, and their relationship occasionally felt forced except for the fact that he really, really wanted it.
Overall, I enjoyed the characters and dynamics and think most people who enjoyed the first book will enjoy the sequel.
