On the Origin of Species by Charles Darwin
4.0

I found it surprisingly accessible given its age. I'm not well versed in 19th century scientific writing and could use some context to better understand how Darwin's work fit in to the science of his day. It's easy to see how revolutionary his ideas were in the absence of techniques capable of discerning the mechanism of mutation. So many of his ideas make so much sense in light of subsequent research (including plate tectonics which developed much later) but I wonder what it just have been like to evaluate his theory when it first appeared.
