The Midnight Palace
by Carlos Ruiz Zafón
Zafons' writing always overwhelms me.
It just draws me in and I hungrily devour the pages. The narrative style is deeply descriptive and it can be said to mirror gothic literature. The reason I am particularly taken with this book, the least illustrious of it all, is because of its target audience. How is it possible that a book is both dark and optimistic? In the Midnight Palace, he seems to have written the childrens' equivalent of Shadow of the Wind.
A wonderful adventure for kids
