The House of the Wicked: A romantic suspense novel by Oona Arlo

5.0

Oh my god, you guys. This book is wow. Everything about it draws you in. It's a mafia/cartel book but it's so steeped in richness and lore it feels almost real. August is literally so amazing. I don't think I've ever connected with a character as much as I have Nora. Everything about her, her pain, her desire for freedom, her rage, everything is so relatable. I seriously cannot wait for book two. The absolute twists and turns of this book, yall. I was unprepared.

A bit about it: Nora lives a sheltered life under the controlling hand of her godfather, a notorious crime lord. She helps him by selling illegal firearms and creating fake IDs. But something happens that forces her to take a step back and look at how generally fucked up things are around her. Nora wants to run to freedom, the one thing she's ever wanted, but one man stands in her way. August, the new head of security. Forced to flee together, they have to try and ignore the growing attraction while fighting for their lives but nothing can save Nora for the truth of who the man who raised her is.
