Small town second chance romance, MCs in their early 30s

I was excited upon reading the blurb because I expected that Jay will do everything to get back together with Cami this time around. He broke her heart — in my opinion, it should be him who apologizes and makes it up to her this time.

Wrong.

The reason for their breakup when they were younger was the same old "I don't want to hold you back from being successful in your career". Which is basically him making a choice for her without talking to her about it.

I hate these MMCs who use the "I'm doing this for you" excuse to make shitty decisions. Or maybe not shitty decisions but what bugs me is why they couldn't have just talked to the FMC about it. Communication is key, boys.

The story itself was very... mellow. Compared to books/series that have a lot of drama (or maybe I've just been reading a lot of dark/bully romances), this was definitely light.

What's refreshing is that the intimate scenes were awkward at times and more realistic than the usual where everything is perfect and the couple was just instinctually in sync with each other and comes so many times. Lol

The book ain't bad but it's not great either. I probably won't be able to remember this soon. Just not for me maybe.
