Red Clocks by Leni Zumas

3.0

Red Clocks was all over my bookstagram feed. I could not open the app without seeing this red cover popping up on my screen.

In this dystopian novel which is set in the United States, abortion is illegal so is adopting a kid as a single parent. Coming off the heels of "The Handmaid's Tale" this book felt a little too real for comfort, especially with the Trump administration in power, I cant help but feel like this might be the future. It is chilly.

In this novel we meet five very strong females, all of which are affected by this new law. We see how each navigate their new reality. I really loved the Biographer and Daughter storylines because they really spoke to me.

Overall, this was a chilling read. I didn't like how close to reality this could possibly be.
