I jumped back into Pern after years away, the last one I read was Masterharper and I just drifted away from the series after that. Like most Pern novels there's heavy continuity and you pick up on the storyline pretty quickly.
I was surprised how LONG the book was and just how little seemed to happen! Not sure if it's enough to entice me to go back to previous books by Todd McCaffrey but the style is close enough to classic Pern novels that it's not a jarring shift.
