House of Sky and Breath by Sarah J. Maas
3.0
Welp. This was unexpected. I've never had a SJM book feel like I had to drag through it. And I've been a SJM girlie before it was cool, you know...
The book was packed with action but, for some reason, it just didn't hit me the way it should've. It felt like a constant roller coaster with no stops or breaks, somehow diminishing the importance of what was happening on the page.
Then there was the fact that every. single. thing. in this book came back to Danika. She died and now she's painted as some sort of mastermind that kept everything a secret and there were none the wiser?
And don't get me started on Bryce yet again figuring shit out off page and slapping us with some revelations at very convenient times.
Also, what's up with all the arranged marriages to the wrong people? SARAH???
All of that being said, I adored the guys group that formed, and I thoroughly enjoyed all the characters and their development. She knows how to write 'em.
